The word for today is humid! Just wet and sticky all day.
Started the day going into New York and of corse the state sign was on a bridge. But just after that was the Hudson valley, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Lush green forests and great views.
As I entered NY there was this great complex of red stone buildings which I later learned is a prison. In this area even the prisons have class.
I stopped by the local Harley dealer and learned I was only a few blocks from Orange County Choppers, you may know them from the A&E show American Choppers. The complex is huge and includes an indoor bowling ally and a cafe. I took the shop tour and saw some of the things they were working on for the new season of the show and met a couple of the stars. Well worth the time to see it.
My next stop was The United States Military Academy at West Point. This is one of the few military posts the public is allowed to visit. If you ever get the opportunity it is something special to see. As you would expect the grounds are immaculate and the view of the Hudson River is second to none. This is a truly special place.
A bit further down the road I searched for an hour trying to find a New Jersey sign that I could get to without luck, so I headed on down the road.
Do you know why NJ is called The Garden State? Because “The Petrochemical and Toxic Waste State” will not fit on the license plate.
As I crossed in to Pennsylvania I did look back and saw a sign I could get to. The picture is below. Also check out what I sometimes have to do to get these pictures.
